Symptoms of Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders

The symptoms of a dual diagnosis issue depend on which Co-Occurring psychiatric diagnosis is present.

A patient with alcohol addiction and depression could present with increased use of alcohol and its effects. This may also present as a very depressed mood, weight changes, and appetite changes.
If you have an addiction and bipolar disorder, the presentation would include symptoms of the primary addiction. Or, mood instability, mania, and all the other symptoms present in bipolar disorder.
